A piano player since the age of 3, Lauren Gibbs has been writing songs and playing professionally since the age of 14. She collaborates w/ NYC writer Marc Hoffman as well as George Karak, (writer of Bon Jovi's 'Runaway'), amongst others. As a musician, Lauren has played acoustic piano/synth on various Lou Reed tracks, as well as on Susan Werner's debut album 'Last of the Good Straight Girls' on Private Music/BMG. She has worked closely as a vocalist/keyboardist for world-class bassist Fernando Saunders and appears on Fernando's latest release on Sony/Red titled "I Will Break Your Fall". Lauren's song "I Don't Need You" was covered by Fernando (and turned into a duet!) on this CD. She also plays acoustic piano on Fernando's duet with Lou Reed 'Baton Rouge', as well as on 'Pain', 'See The Light' and 'Lover'.
Lauren has studied piano performance in the Juilliard School's Evening Division in NYC. She has volunteered regularly for non-profit NYC organization Musicians On Call, doing in-room performances for patients at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Her work with Musician's On Call has been featured in "International Musician", the monthly magazine from the American Federation of Musicians.
Lauren is a veteran of the live music scene and has been performing for years as both a solo artist and with bands (3 of which included bassist Brian Kane) in NYC area bars/clubs, hotels, Atlantic City casinos and The Intrepid. Her first gig with Dangerous New Highs was during the summer of 2010, after being bugged for two years by drummer Mike Weiss to sit in on a gig. Mike's persistence clearly paid off - Lauren joined the band shortly thereafter. In turn, Lauren's long musical history with bassist Brian Kane was destined to continue - he officially joined DNH in March 2011.
When not performing with Dangerous New Highs, Lauren's voice can currently be heard at SeaWorld as part of Shamu's closing number in the 'Believe' show, as well as on jingles and corporate spots throughout the U.S. Her original music can be heard in a variety of national retail establishments thru TruSonic's Music program, and is also available on iTunes, Amazon.com, and other digital music outlets.
